Ordering Tobacco Online in Ontario: Age, ID and Shipping

You can order cigarettes, cigars and loose leaf online in Ontario if you're 19 or older. Here's how age checks, ID at the door, same-day Sudbury delivery and Canada-wide shipping work.

The short answer: yes — adults 19 and over can order tobacco online in Ontario. At White Birch Post you confirm your age at checkout, local deliveries in Greater Sudbury are checked against government-issued photo ID at the door, and orders anywhere else in Canada (except Nunavut) ship by tracked Canada Post.

How old do you have to be?

The minimum age to buy tobacco in Ontario is 19. It varies across Canada — 18 in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec, 21 in Prince Edward Island, and 19 everywhere else. We sell to adults 19 and over only, and you must also meet the minimum age where you live.

Will I need ID?

For local deliveries in Greater Sudbury, yes: our driver checks government-issued photo ID at the door for every order, and won't hand over an order to anyone who can't show it. Have your driver's licence, Ontario Photo Card or passport ready.

Same-day delivery in Greater Sudbury

Orders to Greater Sudbury addresses — including Capreol, Val Caron, Hanmer, Chelmsford, Lively and Garson — can arrive the same day when placed before the daily cut-off. The current cut-off is shown on our homepage and at checkout.

Shipping across Canada

Everywhere else in Canada ships from our Capreol store by tracked Canada Post, in discreet packaging. A few things to know:

  • PO boxes and rural routes are fine. At checkout, use the "PO Box / rural route" option to enter the address by hand.
  • Your province is set by your postal code. Canadian postal codes identify the province, so it's filled in automatically.
  • We don't ship to Nunavut. Orders with a Nunavut address can't be completed.
  • Shipping costs are a flat rate based on your order total. See our delivery area page for the current table.

Can I return tobacco?

Tobacco is final sale. If a parcel goes missing in transit, contact us and we'll sort it out — see our FAQ.
